Hi! We are a naturally alternative skincare brand.
I'm Jordanna-Leigh- founder of Yorkshire Balms & Butters (established in 2023). We handcraft 100% naturally raw, artisan skincare & herbal remedies. I make everything myself with the help of my children, in our little Yorkshire home- in small batches, to ensure quality.
Our products are great natural alternatives to use instead of the commercial, high chemically processed junk you find in the big, high street stores.
These skincare products are the perfect solution for: dry & problematic skin.

Abit about me & how our story formed & began!
Proudly residing in Calderdale, Yorkshire- I am first & foremost a mummy to 3 amazing children but also a small skincare business owner. I write poetry & have been a sufferer with acne on & off throughout my adult life...
So, the vision first became clear after my middle child had her first excema breakout as a baby. We were prescribed steroids & other harsh/chemically formulated products but I knew I didn't want to use that on her delicate skin. Thus, 'Arya's baby butter' was born! Something that doesn't contain nasty chemicals. Something toxic free. SIMPLE.
On a personal level, I have very much adopted a more naturally alternative way of living & so was extremely reluctant to use anything other than natural on my childrens skin anyway.... I wanted to handcraft something that would contain simple ingredients, yet, host numerous beneficial properties to soothe problematic & dry skin- as well as being generally gentle enough for use on infants. We founded our first product in 2023 & launched in March 2024.
**We pride ourselves on handcrafting 100% natural/gentle skincare & herbal products. Lovingly created (with the help of the kids ofcourse) in our little home.**
I am very much into working with the plants we have growing here in good old Yorkshire- so, I have incorporated this love into our very own herbal infusions (all my plants/herbs are left to infuse into Jojoba oil for at least 3 weeks). These powerful, healing oils will be going into my next blueprinted products & I can’t wait!
I love providing for my little family & get much enjoyment out of making our skincare, homemade meals from scratch & living an alternatively natural & healthy lifestyle. I am passionate about teaching/learning with them & we also go on frequent foraging trips together.

Our first product.
'Arya’s baby butter’ was the first product we created. It is a natural alternative to high street lotions & is specially designed with children in mind! This butter is also suitable & gentle enough for those with sensitive or problematic skin. Containing only natural ingredients (with no added water/chemicals) this moisturiser is neither harsh nor stripping the skin of its natural oils & is perfect for inflamed skin. Also works amazing on nappy rash.
I created this moisturiser partly because I knew I couldn’t afford to keep on top of buying the amount of natural/toxic free cream I needed to soothe my daughters problematic skin but also because I wanted to prove to myself that I could make my own for my family, instead of having to rely on other businesses.
Our passion for using nothing other than natural.
I believe in a more simplistic & natural way of living. Ever since having my daughters- especially my youngest- I began to take an interest in living more 'naturally' & wanting myself (and them) to live the best & most healthiest way we possibly can! This means natural, toxic free skincare, haircare, soaps, food, etc. They deserve the very best & this is what gives me the drive & passion to carry on doing what I am doing.
All of our ingredients are 100% natural & therefore, colour & consistency can sometimes slightly vary. However, this does not affect quality.

Have you ever looked at the ingredient's labels at the back of your favourite lotion brands? You should. They are packed with so many different chemicals, harsh skin strippers & a ridiculous amount of water! Now, compare their ingredients to ours... We believe in using simple, natural ingredients. So, when you’re next in Boots or any high street store looking to purchase a ‘quality, skin loving’ (your skin definitely does not love these ingredients & maybe not now but later on down the line your skin will suffer from this) moisturiser from the shelves, why not think to give us a try instead. Yorkshire.
We love ALL things Yorkshire- hence the name! We really do live in such a beautiful place; from the rolling hills to the majestic moors, historic cities & vibrant market towns/villages. That is why we are so PROUD to represent this wonderful county. ‘God’s own country’, is the largest county in the UK, with some of the most incredible sights! There is an abundance of quality livestock, delicious fruit/veg, farms & one of the cleanest water supplies in the UK... Yorkshire is also renowned for the amazing array of talent! Including: unique crafters, artisan makers, authors, bakers, musicians & much more! Now, if this isn’t enough to make you love Yorkshire- along with our skincare brand- then I don’t know what is!
Will we be making more products?
We currently have 1 moisturiser available to buy at the minute but lots of other blueprints for other amazing products! Including: face/body scrub, natural vicks ointment, herbal tea, tinctures, herbal infusions (infused by me), healing balms & lipbalms.
